There are numerous fascinating applications for incorporating a transparent sphere into your business presentations. We will delve into these later in the article. First, let's explore how to create this sphere from scratch.
Step 1: Draw a perfect circle
To do this, select the 'Oval' tool from the auto shapes menu and hold down the 'Shift' tab to ensure that the circle is perfectly round. Make sure that the width and height of the circle are both set to "3 inches". Once you have drawn the circle, fill it with the color of your choice and remove the outline.
Step 2: Convert the circle into a sphere
To transform a circle into a sphere, follow these simple steps. First, right-click on the circle and select ‘Format shape’. Then, navigate to the ‘3D Format’ tab and select ‘Bevel’. Click on the ‘Top’ surface and choose the ‘Circle’ bevel preset. Repeat this step for the ‘Bottom’ surface.
To achieve the desired spherical shape, you will need to increase the width and height of the bevel. To calculate the necessary dimensions, add 36 points for each inch of the diameter. For example, if the diameter of your circle is 3 inches, you will need to add 108 points (3 x 36) to the width and height of both surfaces.
Step 3: Make the sphere transparent
It is not possible to achieve a transparent ball by simply reducing the transparency of the fill. Doing so will only result in a messy appearance, as demonstrated here:
Fortunately, there is a better solution. By altering the 'Material' of the ball, you can achieve the desired effect. To do this, navigate to the 3D format tab and select the 'Surface' option. From there, click on the 'Material' drop-down menu and choose the 'Clear' preset from the available options.
Once you have selected the 'Clear' preset, you can then change the 'Fill' color to white to achieve the final PowerPoint sphere. This method will ensure a professional and polished appearance for your presentation.
